Having attained her Diploma in 2008 and Melanie's Studio teaching experience extends over 9 years whilst her Plates mat experience extends well past 10 years. Prior to Pilates journey she was a Fitness Instructor and it was during this time when she discovered the benefits of postural awareness for improved range of movement. It is her passion for clients to take their learnings beyond the studio workout and explore how strong their bodies can be when they are aligned.

Melanie is a Level 2 member of the PAA, (Pilates Alliance Australasia).

Ash is our most Senior Instructor! Having joined Northside in January 2016 and holds a  NCEF (National Certificate in Exercise and Fitness) an ITEC (is the premier International Awarding Organisation for qualifications in sports therapy & personal training. 


Ash's Pilates training  was completed with BASI- Body Arts Science International Pilates in Melbourne.

ALEX O'NEILL-KING 
- STUDIO & MAT INSTRUCTOR

Alex was introduced to the Pilates method by her Physiotherapist to help recover from a back injury. Alex continued Pilates alongside her dance training, developing a keen interest and curiosity in movement efficiency and initiation.  Alex loves helping her clients discover new, more efficient ways of moving - increasing their ability to enjoy being in their bodies and live an active, movement filled life! Alex is a Level 1 member of the PAA, (Pilates Alliance Australasia). She is working overseas at the moment but will be joining us in Thailand for our Mind Body Pilates Retreat.


Our instructors come from the highest caliber of Pilates training, it takes over 600 hours of intensive training and learning to complete a Diploma in the Pilates Method. There is a minimum requirement of 100 hours of observation before a student can commence their 200 hours of assistant teaching in order to graduate from the  Diploma course. This is a government recognised course that has the greatest number of work experience and training hours in comparison with other courses.  Needless to say our instructors are experienced and dedicated to teaching the Pilates Method. Did you know that some industry instructors learnt Pilates from a 5 day course!!


Northside Pilates is an accredited workplace experience facility, we are affiliated with Pilates International Training and only employ staff who are formally trained from Pilates International Training or equivalent. ​

ALEX HEGARTY
- STUDIO INSTRUCTOR

Alex first discovered Pilates through a physiotherapist in order to help with a torn hip joint and pain in her lower back, neck and shoulders.   

"After 10 years in the garden industry I had unknowingly worsened my biomechanics and posture majorly. I felt physically   old ,   exhausted and was increasing my risk of further injury.

I aim to help my clients by improving strength for functional movement, correcting posture, reducing muscular imbalances and correcting muscle firing patterns."

FRAN DUDLEY

With over 14 years of Pilates teaching experience and her philosophy is to take each person as they come, helping to empower clients to increase body awareness, harnessing the power within to heal holistically, along with a strong focus on 'safety first'.“I thrive on seeing clients transform through Pilates whether it is achieving rehabilitation or strengthening goals, improving body and postural awareness, managing or eliminating pain or just having fun, releasing tensions and feeling holistically great about themselves!




MELISSA ROMANELLA 
- MAT & STUDIO INSTRUCTOR

Melissa has over 20 years participating in the Calisthenics  Victoria State Titles (CVI) and Australian Royal South Street Competitions.  Melissa was first introduced to Pilates to not only rehabilitate and  strengthen her body but manage her Scoliosis as well. 
“There are so many amazing things that Pilates has already done for me both physically and emotionally. I love helping each person on their journey. By teaching, I have the opportunity to support and share in my client’s goals and successes and that is so incredibly rewarding and fulfilling for me”.

ARNA ELMES
- STUDIO & MAT INSTRUCTOR
Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction

Arna has been teaching dance and conditioning for over 20 years. From Musical Theatre, to Aerobics, to Classical Ballet, to Contemporary, to Stretch and Strength classes - working with the very beginner (both child and adult) through to the advanced learner. 2016 saw a big move from Sydney to Melbourne and with that, the opportunity to study Pilates further and in greater detail. Arna is currently finalising her Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction.

“I am the sort of person that hopes to be teaching in my seventies, bringing hope, knowledge and inspiration to people of all ages and abilities.”

As a very keen tennis player, Edwina started Pilates as a cross training method and is committed to sharing the benefits Pilates can make in improving physical and mental health. Edwina brings great energy, enthusiasm and generosity to her Pilates teaching. Combining her time teaching and working as a freelance art curator


Edwina is a Level 1 Member of PAA (Pilates Alliance Australia) and the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).

ANNA MONTAGUE 
- MAT INSTRUCTOR
Certificate IV in Pilates Matwork Instruction

Anna first discovered Pilates in high school when she was training competitively as a track & field 
athlete in New Zealand.  After running a half marathon a few years ago, coupled with full time work sitting at a desk, Anna became familiar with the injuries, aches and pains come from repetitive strain, faulty biomechanics in the body and not maintaining core strength.  Always an advocate for leading an active life and keeping fit, Anna decided in 2013 that she wanted to train and become instructor both for her own optimum wellbeing and to assist others in achieving the body they want. 

REBECCA BAINGER

Bec is passionate about Health, Fitness and the Arts and was first drawn to Pilates through her professional dance career after attending Pilates for rehabilitation. Pilates accelerated her recovery and educated her to move more efficiently providing a stronger framework and understanding of her body. Rebecca is a certified  Mat instructor with over 6 years industry experience.

CARMEN BARRY
- MAT & STUDIO INSTRUCTOR

Carmen's passion for Pilates began 4 years ago when she first walked into the Northside studio. Using the Pilates method to assist her own rehabilitation after two knee reconstructions, Carmen's passion for the practice has led her to becoming a teacher this year and she is currently finalising her Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction.

With a background in Nursing, Life Coaching and Mindfulness, Carmen enjoys assisting client's in using their own practice to challenge and transform both their bodies and their minds.​
